Aftercare
Looking after your tattoo is essential. When you visit north west tattoo studio Quayside Tattoo, we'll provide guidance on the best way to keep your ink looking great for years. When your tattoo is complete, Lee will put ointment on it and cover it with a dressing. Don't remove the dressing for a minimum of two hours! Once you've removed it, wash the tattoo gently with warm soapy water, and then dab dry with a clean towel – under no circumstances should you rub dry. Tattoos normally take about 10 to 14 days to heal. A slight scab will form; it will tend to itch but don't pick or scratch it, as you could pick the ink out. Quayside Tattoo is a conscientious north west tattoo studio and we understand the importance of taking proper care at this stage. Failure to look after your tattoo can damage the visual aspect as well as having health implications.
We highly recommend this product for your tattoo aftercare.
If you do decide to use tattoo aftercare ointment, be sure to use it sparingly: a thin coating is plenty, so use a small amount to start with as you can always apply more. Using too much ointment will only make your tattoo soggy, and this in turn could damage the finished product. The ointment should be used twice daily. Despite what you might have heard, never use Vaseline on a healing tattoo. You mustn't completely immerse your tattoo in water – for example, having a bath or swimming – until the scabbing has completely healed. It's also very unwise to expose it to the sun, or to use sunbeds, until it's healed. Most tattoo defects are down to poor aftercare, and at north west tattoo studio Quayside Tattoo we want your experience to be an excellent one.
